Frequently Asked Questions

Due to the thorough and holistic nature of our treatments, our chiropractors are out-of-network providers. Payment is due at time of service. We will provide you with a super bill, or invoice with the appropriate information so that you may submit it to your insurance company for any eligible out-of-network reimbursement.

Chiropractic care focuses on properly aligning the body’s structures—primarily the spine—to allow for natural, surgery-free healing. We do this through hands-on soft tissue and muscle release work, manipulation and adjusting. Our goal is not to give patients drugs to not feel pain, but to discover the source of the pain and correct the problem.

Treatments may feel a bit “awkard” at first, but they should not be painful. Dr. Gerson will alway modify her force and technique to meet you where you are comfortable. We have some patients that have been getting adjusted their entire lives, and others that are first-timers and very apprehensive. We will only do what you are comfortable with, and we will never “surprise” you with a movement. You may be sore after your first visit, but nothing more than “going to the gym for the first time in a while” sore. After a few visits, you will skip the “feeling sore” part, and go straight to the “feeling good” part. If anything hurts or simply doesn’t feel right, we want you to let us know. It is common for us to hear “this feels so good” many times throughout the day.

The spine is the structural support for the whole body. If areas of the spine become stiff or start to move improperly the function of the nearby muscles and nerves are impaired. When nerves and muscles are impaired, they let you know using pain, compensations and altered ranges of motion. The chiropractic adjustment, and corresponding therapies, are a great way to get the stiff areas moving again and actually work to fix the underlying problems. Chiropractic looks at health and the body in a complete, whole-body, comprehensive way. We can get amazing changes to structure and function thru our treatments. It’s a unique, hands-on healing technique. Your body does the work, and we are happy to be a part of it.

An adjustment is a chiropractor’s method of moving a restricted or stiff joint. The doctor pushes on specific parts of your body in a way that opens the joint very slightly.

The gasses within the joint capsule often makes a “popping” or “cracking” sound. Sometimes, it is quiet. We are not interested in the noise, but in the corrected movement. The adjustment is often the gateway to true healing and optimal functioning of the body.

Healing is a process. There is very often not a start or finish line. Each body heals differently. The chiropractors at Moving Body Chiropractic will use all the tools at their disposal to help you on your unique and individual healing journey. Healing begins from within, and we are continually amazed at the healing powers of the body. That being said, we want you to feel and move better as quickly as possible. You can typically expect to feel different after just the first visit. We want to see that things are heading in the right direction within the first 3 visits, or we will change our course of action.

Chiropractic treatments are incredibly safe—actually, they’re one of the safest kinds of medical care available. And your chiropractor has studied extensively to fully understand the body’s systems. The chiropractic training program is comparable to the program of study for medical doctors. According to the American Chiropractic Association, more than 30 million people visited doctors of chiropractic last year for a variety of conditions, and more and more medical doctors are referring their patients to doctors of chiropractic. MBC chiropractors are trained to diagnose and to rule out any contraindications to care. They will take all factors into consideration before beginning treatment.

Yes! Very gently! The pressure used to treat a baby (we’ll even start with newborns) is less than what you would use to check to see if a tomato is ripe! In essence, we are just helping the baby to “unwind” and releasing any restrictions, tight spots, areas where they seem uncomfortable. They love it! We can adjust/work on them as they are nursing, lying on mom or dad, in the car seat.. we get creative. Parents always say “I wish I had done this sooner for my child.”

We do not turn the baby. Instead, we provide the optimal space and alignment which gives the baby the best chance of getting in the correct position. We do this thru a series of adjustments, soft tissue work and ligament releases. It typically feels really good for mom, too. Having the best alignment possible, especially thru the pelvis, hips, sacrum and low back is good for both mom and baby!

Our overall patient average is 6 visits. Obviously, this number can vary greatly. We have some patients that come only when they are hurting, and others that come for monthly/quarterly maintenance. We have patients in both categories that we have seen in some capacity for over 10 years now! Our goal is to get you out of pain as quickly as possible, and get you to stay that way. There are no contracts or long-term treatment plans. We want to be an active partner in your health and healing and together we will determine what is right for you.
