and has been practicing chiropractic since 2006. In her experience, she has learned to honor the healing process of the body. She uses multiple hands-on chiropractic and rehabilitative techniques, along with proper nutrition and exercises to accelerate and support the phases of healing. Working with adults, children and babies, she has a very gentle and caring approach. She is a firm believer in education, always helping her patients understand what she is doing, and the reasons for it.
She works closely with other health care providers and makes appropriate referrals to ensure her patients get the best possible results.
Dr. Gerson was born and raised on Long Island, New York. She began seeing a chiropractor when she was 16 years old for repetitive injuries sustained as a track and cross-country runner. Because of her chiropractor, she was able to stay on the field and remain competitive. It was then that her vision was born.
She did not take the direct route to chiropractic, however and believes that all the in-between jobs and journeys have given her perspective and experience which she carries into her treatment room.
She graduated with honors from Colgate University, and then thought there might be “other ways” to help people. After working in both the health care and non-profit sectors, she finally made her way to chiropractic school. She attended the University of Bridgeport College of Chiropractic and graduated magma cum laude in 2006, when she was 9 months pregnant with her first child.
Being simultaneously a new mom, and a new chiropractor was daunting. She is very fortunate her first experience as a chiropractor was with the busy Sports-Medicine and Family practice of internationally acclaimed chiropractor Dr. Keith Overland, in suburban New York City.
Incorporating hands-on manipulative and soft tissue techniques, along with the best in physio-therapy modalities and exercise rehabilitation protocols, Dr. Gerson treated a wide variety of sports and musculoskeletal injuries. Her second pregnancy prompted her to build a vibrant Prenatal and Perinatal practice as well. Sharing her pregnancy with her patients, she found it especially rewarding to work on other expectant moms and their families.
Dr. Gerson created an “ErgoMOMics” training and education, helping new moms (and dads) understand the proper ways of lifting and carrying a baby, loading the car seat, pushing the stroller, etc. so as to avoid injury and repetitive stress syndromes.
She is trained in the Webster Technique, a series of adjustments aimed at getting the baby in the optimal position for a positive and natural birthing process.
Dr. Gerson has advanced training in Pre-Natal and Pediatric Chiropractic, and has studied Cranial-Sacral Therapy with the Upledger Institute.
She simply likes to incorporate her varied skills and techniques to help all people (whether they’re athletes, babies, “couch potatoes”, “text-neck” worker bees, teens, pregnant mamas or elderly) feel and move their best and live their lives feeling good in their bodies!
While Dr. Gerson is a native New Yorker, (and still misses their pizza), she and her husband found the pace of life in NY and CT a bit too frenetic. In August of 2011, they moved to Denver with their two children. She lives in Central Park and was lucky to practice there for four years before establishing Moving Body Chiropractic. Appropriately, she now lives in Denver with her two children (one now in college!) and their dog!
She appreciates the sense of community that she has been able to foster here and loves Colorado for all the beautiful things it offers. Her establishment of Moving Body Chiropractic is a life-long dream, and she is so grateful for the love, encouragement, patience and support her family and friends have given her on this journey.
When she’s not busy treating patients, or managing the practice, she likes to exercise and receive care herself. She’s always on the lookout for other healers and body-workers. She likes to weight train, and is also getting back to tennis and running. Dr. Gerson also likes to talk, on the phone- old fashioned style- to her family and friends scattered far beyond Colorado.
